BEA's SOA Reference Architecture: A Foundation for Business Agility

Overview The goal of SOA is to align IT capabilities with business objectives. Instead of building and deploying rigid monolithic applications, enterprises construct reusable services and compose fluid applications. Enterprises can continuously adapt to new business conditions by creating and updating services, by adjusting business rules and policies, and by composing new applications. Of course, focusing such tremendous power directly on business objectives presents challenges of its own. To reap the business benefits of SOA, enterprises need a set of conceptual blueprints and guiding principles. An SOA Reference Architecture provides this critical foundation. It offers an architectural framework for planning SOA-based projects that maximize interoperability and reuse.
