Principles and Architecture for a Conversational Agent
Overview Speech recognition research has been ongoing for more than 50 years, but it is only within the last decade that large-vocabulary, continuous-speech recognition capability has become available on personal computers. Rather than focusing on using speech as an alternative to keyboard, mouse, and screen, the project viewed speech as an additional channel of communication between the user and the computer.
