SAP Transaction Banking: IBM System z DB Server Using DB2 V9.1 for z/OS Large Database Measurements
Overview The SAP TRansaction BanKing (TRBK) application has evolved significantly over time. Not only does it provide significantly more function for banks, it now exploits functions such as Unicode and SAP's NetWeaver. These measurements, as well as the previous TRBK measurements, show that both the posting and balancing workloads can exploit Parallel Sysplex well. However, there are distinct differences between the two workloads. Posting has much higher data base I/Os. It also has a lower Parallel Sysplex coupling efficiency. Balancing, due to its update nature, has a high logging rate. These general distinctions and characteristics existed even in previous versions of the application. Both workloads' efficiency can be improved by tuning - especially with respect to DB2.
