Integrating Components: Examine the Benefits and Pitfalls of Component Integration to Wireless
Overview This paper delivers an overview of the promises (frameworks as reusable mechanisms, middleware that provides request brokers for horizontal infrastructure services and component connector mechanisms, component-based software engineering, and Web engineering) and problems (firewalls making user collaboration difficult, inadequate risk analysis, and the non-availability of components) to providing component-integration benefits to the wireless world. The author also defines the top-down and bottom-up approaches of component integration and explains why one should consider components at both the object and abstraction levels.
