Design Issues for Pervasive Systems: How Techniques Like Layering and Interfaces Promote Good Pervasive System Design
Overview The design decisions for pervasive or potentially pervasive systems depend heavily on the costs and possibilities of modifying them. Remember to identify such possibilities early in the design phase and enable the system for possible changes. Don't forget, either, that not all modifications are large or complex and that it's best to recognize those instances and keep things simple. By hiding most of the functionality behind interfaces and offering services through those interfaces, maintaining the system is simpler and cheaper. After all, money is always the language that the customer understands best.
