Overview Westar Aerospace & Defense Group, Inc. needed to streamline its data center to incorporate an acquisition approximately equal to its own size. Following this acquisition, Westar itself was acquired by QinetiQ North America. Westar decided to continue on its path to build a smaller, more flexible data center infrastructure to keep down the cost of purchasing and maintaining servers. By virtualizing servers, Westar obtained the savings that it sought and in the process created data center resources that its parent company can leverage as a unified infrastructure for its North American acquisitions.
