Food Manufacturer Speeds Inspection Reporting With Wireless Mobile Solution

Overview Fresh Mark produces processed meats for the retail and food service industries. Its products include Sugardale and Superior's hot dogs, lunch meats, hams, and a variety of items for food service. Federal food-handling regulations make manufacturers responsible for regularly inspecting areas of food safety vulnerability, such as the temperatures in coolers and smokers. Fresh Mark wanted to replace its manual inspection procedures with a computerized system that would ensure information was accurate when entered, catch problems quickly, escalate them to the appropriate personnel, track their resolution, and reduce paperwork. It turned to Prime ProData for an application that captures data in the plants and transfers it over wireless networks. Plant managers now have near-real-time access to the data through desktop computers and pagers.
