Best Practices: Security Management
Overview Trying to secure the business without some in-depth research and forethought is not smart. Nor is it wise to informally delegate it to employees in various departments. Taking this approach will likely cost too much, will interfere with operations, and guarantees that key vulnerabilities will be overlooked. Rather, one should create a security policy for the entire company that addresses all of its security needs, including those associated with keeping the business running in the face of various kinds of disasters and failures (referred to as business continuity). The security policy must work in the real world, which means it has to truly meet the needs of the business in a practical and enforceable way.
