Accelerating the Performance of the MiTAC Smartphone Camera Driver by Using Intel VTune Performance Analyzer and Intel Integrated Performance Primitives
Overview In today's cell phone market, customers demand more data services and attractive functions such as cameras, audio players, games, Multimedia Messaging Services (MMS), and Bluetooth wireless technology. Many times, developers who work on these embedded systems lack the tools necessary to capture profiling data in order to improve algorithms and code. Without these tools, developers and testers waste valuable time searching for coding problems instead of fixing them. This paper demonstrates how Intel VTune Performance Analyzer and Intel Integrated Performance Primitives (Intel IPP) work together to help finding and fixing bottlenecks more efficiently. Using examples from the MiTAC Smartphone camera driver, this paper will show step-by-step how to get profiling data and improve code.
