ARMing SAS Jobs on HP?UX 11.x
Overview In 1996 Application Response Measurement (ARM) was introduced as a way to monitor applications and their performance. The ability to gauge the performance of applications is a key element to systems administration. Using ARM with SAS allows a systems administrator to monitor the performance of the entire job or even a single PROC step within a job. The purpose of this paper is to describe the steps necessary to ARM a SAS job and then monitor that job using HP GlancePlus. This paper gives a brief introduction to the ARM API and then proceeds to outline two different methods of ARMing a SAS job. The last section describes how to view the ARM data with HP GlancePlus.
