ISA Server 2004 Configuration Guide
Overview ISA Server 2004 is designed to protect the network from intruders located on the inside of the network and those outside of the network. The ISA Server 2004 firewall does this by controlling what communications can pass through the firewall. The basic concept is simple: if the firewall has a rule that allows the communication through the firewall, then it is passed through. If there is no rule that allows the communication, or if there is a rule that explicitly denies the connection, then the communication is stopped by the firewall. The ISA Server 2004 firewall contains dozens of features one can use to provide secure access to the Internet and secure access to resources on the network from machines located on the Internet.
