SunTone Helps Copart, Inc. Deliver Internet Auction in Real Time - The First Time

Overview Although senior management was totally behind the move, they were concerned about finding a way to make Copart's auction infrastructure strong enough to support the new model. At the time, Copart was running everything on a few large machines. The problem was that the current virtual auction infrastructure was lacking in stability and scalability. The other bothersome issue - the archival and retrieval of the car digital images (millions of them) - definitely an issue for a company dependent on photos for advertising and selling auction items. As a solution Copart migrated from the existing 2-tier architecture to an N-tier model with the auction tier built on the highly-reliable and scalable Sun server.
