Borough of Lewisham Leverages Purchasing Power With Online Marketplaces

Overview Lewisham Council wanted to leverage purchasing power by using online marketplaces to gain access to the broadest possible range of goods and services and cut administration costs, reduce off-contract spend, and enforce process controls while maximizing spend with Small-and-Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs), local companies, ethnic minority businesses, and third-sector organizations in line with government recommendations. The challenge was to generate accurate, up-to-date spend figures for commitment accounting and provide reliable management information data for decision makers. Lewisham Council replaced disparate, manual purchasing processes with Oracle Purchasing and rolled out Oracle iProcurement to 600 users as well as cut order cycles and stock while reducing maverick spending.
