Overview The combination of the IBM Rational Unified Process Update for Service Oriented Architecture (RUP Update for SOA) and the Rational Software Architect implementation of the UML Profile for Software Services provides both a modeling approach as well as a set of best practices for the architecture and design of solutions based upon a services architecture model. This paper describes the background, scope, and some of the concepts behind this new capability.
