Innovations in Pervasive Computing: Unwinding the Pattern Behind Today's Killer Apps
Overview Pervasive computing has greatly increased the use of small computing devices over the last 10 years. Some of the devices users now take for granted actually combine older ideas and technologies with newer ones that have only recently become possible. This paper discusses the nature of these combinations, and challenges one to come up with their own innovations in pervasive computing. Many modern-day innovations actually are a combination of two or three older technologies or ideas put together in a unique new way. Although great ideas are always floating around, the first person to package an idea as a product usually gets the recognition, as well as the sales that may come from it.
