Measurements of SAP ECC 5.0 With Unicode on IBM eServer zSeries Using DB2 for z/OS V8

Overview This paper describes several measurements, or stress tests, that were done using a zSeries Database Server and DB2 for z/OS in both non-Unicode and Unicode environments. It looked at both DB Server and Application Server effects. In the case of the Application Server, both AIX as well as Linux are measured for zSeries Application Servers. The paper looked at a highly recommended option zSeries hardware data compression. To some extent it investigated the process of conversion from non-Unicode to Unicode. The goal of this effort was to investigate some of the performance impacts of Unicode, Unicode with zSeries hardware data compression, as well as some of the processes and procedures related to Unicode.
