Chinese Tourism Newspaper Cuts Story Production Time From Four Days to One
Overview China Tourism News, the leading provider of China tourism information, set up its business network on Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0 in 1997. As the publication added production systems, it found it hard to integrate those systems with its business network, which hindered workflow and information sharing. In addition, the newspaper's firewall had proven unreliable against external threats so all stories had to be retyped into the production system rather than sent electronically. To address those challenges, China Tourism News upgraded to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and deployed Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA) 2000, and Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003. In so doing, the paper lowered administrative and personnel costs, improved productivity, and enhanced competitiveness and reduced story processing time by three days.
