Considerations for Migrating to IMS Version 9 From IMS Version 5 or 6
Overview The purpose of this Paper is to assist customers who are currently running older unsupported IMS Versions with their migration to IMS Version 9. Since these older versions (IMS Version 5 and IMS Version 6) are out of support and therefore, not within the IMS V9 migration and coexistence support policy, this paper will describe what steps would be necessary to become current by installing IMS Version 9. This 'Migration Scenario' is not officially supported by IBM; however, the process necessary is similar to a new IMS install so it should apply to most situations. This paper will focus on the minimum required activities that must be done to migrate to IMS V9.
