WebSphere Portal Enable for z/OS

Overview There are many factors that influence the performance of WebSphere Portal in the z/OS environment. The objective of this performance study was to determine which tuning parameters and WebSphere Portal workload characteristics relate to performance. This study includes four different portal workloads with both authenticated and unauthenticated users. This study was made using zSeries z900 processor model 2064 with 8 GB of memory. The number of central processing units (CPUs) varied between 1 and 8 for each performance measurement, depending upon the particular experiment. Varying the number of CPUs allowed studying the scalability of the Portal Server and individual portal workloads. Performance benchmarks were executed using a tool called Mercury LoadRunner.
