Encryption Facility for z/OS - Performance and Sizing
Overview This paper will discuss the factors that may affect performance of the Encryption Facility for z/OS tool, and provide assistance in estimating resource requirements. The document covers both the Encryption Services feature and the DFSMSdss feature of the product. Although the two are functionally identical, the control statement parameters are different, and the performance characteristics are different. Capacity and performance expectations for the IBM Encryption Facility for z/OS depend on a number of factors. As with all encryption, the choice of algorithm and whether that algorithm is supported by hardware is the significant consideration.
