File Archival Solution With TSM Archiving Client and IBM System Storage DR550
Overview The amount of data to be archived is steadily growing. Thereby data subject for archiving originates in many different application areas, such as e-mail, files, Enhanced Resource Planning (ERP), Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) and many more. When file data is not archived it is usually held on local hard disks or in a Storage Area Network. This causes explosions in storage capacities and additional overhead when data backups are performed. Usually backups are performed at night time and backup windows are rather short. This paper presents a practical solution for file archiving from file systems using the TSM Archive Client in accordance with IBM System Storage DR550.
