Customizing the IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS (TWSz) Job-Library Read (Fetch) User Exit

Overview IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler for z/OS (TWSz) is a very versatile workload scheduling system that has been enhanced to meet a variety of Customer requirements over the years. The selection of customization options available has become almost overwhelming, but even so there can be specific needs that require extensions to the functions already available. This paper describes how to implement a Job-library Read user exit to fetch JCL from alternative libraries other than the EQQJBLIB data set. This provides flexibility in selecting which JCL will be used for an occurrence of a job and the opportunity to greatly reduce JCL fetch time and improve throughput.
