Introduction to CC/PP Technology: Effective Ways to Manage Device Capability and Preference Information
Overview Get to know Composite Capabilities/Preference Profile (CC/PP) technology, which provides a standard way to manage device capability information. CC/PP enables an application server to obtain profile identification and profile differences from a client's handheld device and retrieve profile detail from a device vendor repository. In this way, CC/PP saves the service provider from having to maintain device capability information on the server side - a real boon as device specifications might be changed by device vendors. With device capability information obtained by CC/PP technology, service providers can then deliver tailored content to different devices based on the profile information.
