Wireless Digital Picture Frame Retrieves Live Information From Windows Vista Computers
Overview The Momento digital picture frame needed to stand out from a pack of look-alike products. To differentiate their product from a standalone digital frame, which simply reads photos from memory cards or USB keys, OEM i-mate designed a connected, services-oriented device intended for the high-end segment of the consumer electronics market. Windows Embedded CE provided built in WiFi connectivity, advanced graphics, and powerful, integrated development tools. Using Visual Studio and .NET Compact Framework to build applications and web services, i-mate completed development in four months. Today, the Momento frame not only communicates wirelessly with local computers to stream photos and other content from hard drives, it also streams pictures from the Internet and displays live information from Windows Vista systems using Windows SideShow gadget technology.
