Public Sector Service Achieves 100 Per Cent Uptime for Business Critical Messaging Server
Overview The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) in Scotland provides an independent public-prosecution and deaths-investigation service. COPFS wanted to improve visibility across its 62-site distributed IT infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime, notably with its desktop application, Future Office System, and with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. After reviewing a number of different solutions for monitoring its servers, COPFS implemented Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 with MOM 2005 Management Pack. Working with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Charteris, it combined MOM 2005 with Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003. Uptime across the system is now 99.95 per cent. Since Exchange Server 2003 went live at COPFS, it has never failed. COPFS is also achieving significant cost savings on administration.
