Leading Oil Company Ensures Availability of Critical IT Systems

Overview The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) manages a 1,510-kilometre, U.S.$2.6-billion pipeline that connects oil fields in Kazakhstan with a new sea terminal in Russia. To operate effectively, the company relies on IT systems that monitor 24-hour production processes and support communications between employees at 10 regional offices in Russia and Kazakhstan. To ensure constant availability of these critical systems, CPC has upgraded its IT infrastructure based on the latest Microsoft technologies, including the Windows Server 2003 enterprise operating system. As a result, critical systems are now fully fault tolerant, ensuring the continuity of business processes 24 hours a day. In addition, the company has increased overall network security, improved communications for mobile users and contractors, and streamlined project management.
