Financial Institution Chooses Virtualization to Cut Costs, Improve Business Continuity

Overview Based in Zagreb, Raiffeisenbank Austria (RBA) strives to offer the widest range of financial products and services in Croatia. Challenged by recent expansion, the Bank's IT department wanted to reduce costs and better support the business with responsive, reliable IT services. It began by solving inefficiencies in its overcrowded data center. Many RBA servers hosted single applications that could not be deployed in a clustered environment. Using a Microsoft virtualization solution, IT staffers deployed these applications as virtual machines in a host clustering environment, increasing reliability through automated failover. RBA's virtualization solution also reduced hardware, licensing, and data center costs. IT labor costs are also down because IT staffers use integrated Microsoft virtualization management tools to simplify the administration of their virtualized environment.
