Major Korean Telco Saving U.S.$90 Million a Year With Unified Operations Support System
Overview With some 26 million customers in the competitive Korean telecom market, incumbent carrier KT needed the ability to swiftly introduce new services. This ability was impaired, however, because its decentralized Operations Support System (OSS) was spread across six regional operations centers, creating interoperability problems and delays. The company also needed to centralize data that was stored on more than 100 Oracle databases located in the regional operations centers. KT used Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 development system, the Microsoft .NET Framework, and Microsoft Windows Server System integrated server software to create a modular, loosely coupled OSS solution to work across all of its regional operations centers.
