Migration From Open-Source MySQL Solves Technical Woes, Enables New Revenues
Overview Dakis built its revolutionary sales relationship management solution - the Dakis Humanized Expert - on Microsoft Windows Server System software and the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, with one key exception: It had used the open-source MySQL for its database. But the solution suffered from connection errors and crashes, required time-consuming development and debugging, and lacked credibility with the large-scale enterprises that were Dakis's potential customers. In response, the company enlisted the help of Microsoft Consulting Services and migrated to Microsoft SQL Server 2000. As a result, technical problems are reduced and development is faster, more effective, and less costly. Dakis estimates that the enhanced credibility of the solution with potential customers will generate as much as CDN$2 million in revenues this year and $5 million in 2005.
