VMware Virtual Infrastructure Delivers Savings for Siemens Medical Solutions

Overview Using VMware, Siemens Medical Solutions achieved 12:1 server consolidation and increased server utilization. "Prior to virtualization, we were running at 4 percent CPU utilization. Today, we're at 60 to 70 percent," states John Paul, IT architect in the Enterprise Hosting Solutions group of Siemens Medical Solutions. Siemens also observed reductions in rack space and power and cooling costs in its ROI study. They estimate a $4 million reduction in operating expenses by using VMware technology.
