Overview Athens International Airport has established a reputation as one of the most efficiently run airports in the world. Handling around 1.2 million passengers a month, the airport depends on state-of-the-art technology to ensure safe, efficient operations. The company wanted to improve airport communication and information access; cut data center costs and time to deploy applications; and also provide user authentication and single sign-on for increased data protection. They deployed sun's portal-based access to financial applications, flight information and other business-critical applications as well as e-mail, calendaring and instant messaging with single sign-on and user authentication.
