eBay Drives Explosive Growth Using Sun Technology and Sun Services
Overview Founded in 1995, eBay Inc. pioneers communities built on commerce, sustained by trust, and inspired by opportunity. The company's challenge was to grow infrastructure to keep up with explosive growth in transaction volume to minimize administrative costs of managing the data center. The company wanted to reduce facilities costs for cooling, power and space and ensure high availability of infrastructure. They also needed to manage rapidly expanding volume of data. To power its massively-scaled resource tiers including both commercial and custom databases, eBay relies on a spectrum of Sun servers, storage and software solutions, which reduce the company's total cost of ownership, optimize application performance and help eBay manage its rapidly growing and massive volume of data.
