The Role of SONA in Enterprise Architecture Frameworks and Strategies

Overview SONA specifically defines an architectural approach for the enterprise communications network that enables the infrastructure to deliver services, functions, and data to application and middleware layers using defined protocols and APIs. With SONA, Cisco describes a flexible, service-oriented communications network and identifies the high-level relationship and interfaces between the network and general application-level systems. By leveraging these services, protocols, functions, or state information within the network infrastructure, an enterprise can best optimize the delivery of applications that meet business requirements. This white paper presents an overview of Cisco SONA and the role it plays in an enterprise IT architectures such as that defined by TOGAF.
