Rice University's GIS/Data Center: How Do We Do GIS?

Overview The distribution of GIS services in academic libraries has taken many forms; where as some libraries opt to provide a full array of GIS services, others offer mainly on-line reference material. This paper will describe the experience in implementing GIS from a central library location. The paper would attempt to answer the question of whether it is the trend or the exception in the way GIS services are rendered.
