Backup and Restoration Using IBM SAN Volume Controller, LTO and Tivoli Storage Manager

Overview This white paper documents the methodology used at the IBM Oracle International Competency Center (ICC) to migrate the Telco (Oracle E-Business Suite Applications 11i (11.5.10) Telco Benchmark - using Oracle10g on an IBM System p5 570 Server) benchmark environment from high speed 15K disk drives to lower speed 10K disk drives for retention in an online environment. Steps are taken to migrate the Telco benchmark environment (AIX database server, web and application server) offline to IBM System Storage TS3310 Tape Library with LTO 3 using Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) V5.4. With this new capability and service, IBM offers restoration from tape of the final benchmark environment to the same or newer IBM hardware for rerun of the tests or programs.
