Project REAL Monitoring and Instrumentation
Overview Project REAL is an attempt to discover best practices for creating business intelligence applications that are based on Microsoft SQL Server 2005. To work through the same issues that the customers face during deployment, they have created reference implementations that are based on actual customer scenarios and actual customer data. This paper describes the system and network instrumentation and monitoring used for Project REAL, focusing on the tools used, their installation and configuration, and the lessons learned.
