Application Servers White Papers

Steel Company's Upgrade Experiment Boosts Network, Increases Server Performance 50%

Overview Overall, A&B's IT environment supports 300 computers and fourteen servers. The company was looking for 64-bit application solutions, as it was experiencing difficulty accessing critical applications remotely. When it was available and working, the remote access was extremely slow, which resulted in a direct negative impact on productivity across the company. A&B worked with The Dirks Group LLC to integrate and deploy a new, manually built server into its environment. A&B chose to also include the new Terminal Services, such as Terminal Services Easy Print, among the deployed features. Initially, this was a one-office rollout, intended as an experiment. However, the company found the solution so successful that it now plans to have most of its advanced users at all of its locations using Windows Server 2008.
