Engineering Firm Upgrades Infrastructure and Propels Server Performance by 20%

Overview The Foth's plan was to migrate the ASP Web applications to a new server running Windows Server 2008, and then migrate the SharePoint backend databases to a new instance of SQL Server 2005 running on the new server. Two key goals of this project were to alleviate the disk space issues on the old server, and set the stage for the upgrade path to Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 in 2008 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 in 2009. The company deployed Microsoft Windows Server 2008 provided the company with a first look at the new platform running Web server and SharePoint extranet and SQL Server 2005. The move allowed administrators to evaluate the new features of IIS 7.0 and familiarize themselves with the new management GUIs.
