University Reduces Cost and Hassle of Managing and Monitoring Users - File Storage

Overview The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, one of 13 branches of Syracuse University, needed a better way to handle its quota management - the allocation of file storage space to users. To make sure users didn't fill up the file server with movies, music, and other nonacademic files, Maxwell had been using third-party quota management software. But these tools required effort to integrate with the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 operating system and with other tools that Maxwell developed in-house. To address the file server issues, the school upgraded to Windows Server 2003 R2, which includes robust quota management functions, as well as functions to smooth printer management and optimize folder display for users.
