Enterprise Security and Management for Windows: An Overview of Microsoft Forefront and Microsoft System Center
Overview Systems management and systems security are both important areas. In the Microsoft world, each is addressed by a distinct technology family: System Center for management, Forefront for security. Yet it's also true that these two areas are unavoidably connected with one another. As the scenarios just described illustrate, solving real problems commonly requires addressing both topics. Going forward, Microsoft has indicated its intent to make the connection between these two technology families tighter still. Using a single agent for both System Center Operations Manager and Forefront Client Security would make sense, for example, as would providing the ability to use a shared administrator dashboard across products in both families.
