IBM Workplace Forms V2.6 Integration With IBM DB2 V9: Leveraging the XML Capabilities of DB2 V9 in a Workplace Forms Solution

Overview Traditionally, relational DBMSs stored XML data as a single column-row entity (such as CLOB, BLOB, or VARCHAR) or decomposed ("Shred") the XML data into multiple columns. These methods presented problems for many applications, including increased development and query complexity, difficulties in evolving schemas to address new business needs, and poor runtime performance of subdocument queries. By storing the XML data natively in the database, users can now take full advantage of new XML query capabilities, leverage the robust indexing and data storage capabilities of the DBMS, and allow for growth and changes in the XML schema.
