Best Practices for Oracle 10g With Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and HP StorageWorks XP12000
Overview Customers with business-critical systems who run the Oracle environment require both high performance and high availability. They tend to deploy on the HP-UX operating system, and they also tend to use high-performance, highly available storage platforms such as the HP StorageWorks XP12000 and XP10000 Disk Arrays. The successful deployment and effective operation of this type of environment can be enhanced significantly with a set of detailed and test-proven techniques. This white paper provides a comprehensive set of test-proven best practices to properly configure, deploy, and operate an Oracle 10g database using HP Integrity servers running HP-UX and the HP XP12000 Disk Array. Although the XP12000 array was used in the testing, the best practices derived also apply to the XP10000 array.
