City Departments Take Over Their Own Content Management
Overview In January 2004, the City of Rowlett, Texas unveiled its new consolidated website (http://www.ci.rowlett.tx.us), which replaces a group of disparate domains built independently by various municipal departments. Developed by Idea Integration's Dallas office, the new website provides a consistent look and feel for all city resources while at the same time decentralizing content-management duties to allow individual departments to control and maintain their own areas within the website. By using Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002 Standard Edition to distribute content functionality to each department, the city has empowered non-technical staff to easily add or update website resources on a more cost-effective, timely basis.
