Intel and S3 Accelerate Delivery of IP DSLAMs Needed for Triple Play
Overview Telecom providers and IP DSLAM developers face the same issues. Flexibility is needed to allow for continuous introduction of features through software. High throughput is necessary to enable QoS in video services. Low cost is vital to ensure that triple play services can be delivered at a reasonable price point. With support from Intel, S3 developed S3AxS - a flexible, feature-rich and low-cost IP-DSLAM software solution based on the Intel IXP2350 network processor. This software product, delivered in source code, enables telecom providers to bring out customized triple play services more quickly. Intel and S3, along with ADI Engineering and other members of the Intel Communications Alliance also worked together to create a demonstrable hardware platform - a proof-of-concept design for an IP DSLAM line card.
