In 2000 Elia decided it was time to electrify its approach to network information management and launched a radical campaign to move the company from an in efficient, isolated paper-based environment to an efficient, open computerized environment. With help from STAR INFORMATIC and its Web-enabled GIS software solutions, Elia created both an electronic Document Management System (DMS) for storing and maintaining its maps and technical drawings and a GIS to enable users to view the agency's network information geographically.
