Innovative Community Portal to Provide Online Information Resource for City

Overview The City of Greater Sudbury values the role of technology in its future sustainability and growth. In 1999, it established esudbury.com to promote and develop IT strategies for enhancing the city's economic development. In 2003, esudbury.com was selected by Connect Ontario to receive up to CDN$1.1 million (U.S.$904,000) to develop a bilingual community Web portal as part of its SmartSudbury program. Now, esudbury.com is working with Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Navantis to develop the community portal using Microsoft-based technology including; Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server, Microsoft Commerce Server, Microsoft Content Management Server, and Microsoft Office Live Communications Server. The community portal will provide citizens, visitors, and community groups with an innovative way to collaborate, share information, and gain access to important information and services.
