City Builds Foundation for Departments to Improve Services

Overview Located 10 miles north of Denver, Colorado, the city of Thornton is home to 117,000 residents. A diverse community with a strong commitment to quality of life, Thornton attracts businesses, new residents, and tourists because of its proximity to major universities and resort areas. City Of Thornton wanted to increase reliability of network services and improve services to citizens and employees. The challenge was to reduce operational expense. They deployed an upgraded network infrastructure, introduced Voice over IP (VoIP) and deployed wireless hotspots. As a result this reduced network maintenance costs by $50,000 annually, freed up funds to invest in community quality of life and improved efficiency of field employees.
