Overview Virtualization brings enterprises many new ways to deploy and manage application architectures. VMware has enabled these enterprises to take management and virtualization to the next level with their latest release of VMware Infrastructure 3. However, just as in the physical world, protecting data and applications is as, if not more, important. Virtualization allows for higher utilization of physical servers. One physical "Box" can potentially host hundreds of virtual machines with their associated applications and data. Therefore, having a comprehensive backup and recovery strategy is critical for a virtualized environment. VMware recognized this need, and backups can be more easily managed in VMware Infrastructure 3 with a new feature called VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB).
