Server Consolidation White Papers

Workload and Server Consolidation

Overview One might be considering an exercise in server consolidation for a variety of reasons. On the face of it, the meaning of the term 'Server consolidation' seems pretty straightforward. The most obvious interpretation would be that it means having fewer servers and by implication cutting costs. And there's the rub! An exercise in reducing the number of servers that an organization has, may not be in itself a cost saving exercise. Indeed saving costs may be only one of the drivers that form part of the business case for an exercise in server consolidation.
