Management of a Grid Infrastructure in GLITE With Virtualization
Overview A solution for controlling and managing a GLITE grid infrastructure can be the usage of virtualization software like XEN. Where the elements of a GLITE installation can be aligned into virtual machines, which then can be deployed throughout the grid infrastructure as needed, reducing significantly the cost of their maintenance and management. Benchmarks between virtualized and non-virtualized GLITE elements have been taken into account to build a criteria for discerning which elements are better for the use virtualization. Finally it describes the XEN based production environment through which it creates and deploy virtual machines across the infrastructure.
